Goodbye for now
That’s it from our live coverage of Manchester United against Liverpool.
One of the great FA Cup ties, one of the greatest Old Trafford comebacks – and all against their greatest rivals, Liverpool.
From an outstanding start to an irresistible finish, United produced their best when they needed it.
The FA Cup is still a possibility for United, who are also chasing fourth spot in the Premier League.
Liverpool are still chasing the title itself and the Europa League, having already bagged the League Cup, but there will be no Wembley farewell for manager Jurgen Klopp.
Amad Diallo, a rising star on loan at Sunderland in the championship last season, scored the winning goal with what was the most dramatic finish imaginable to an incredible game.
There is a big T20 game to come on Monday as we bring you the final of the Pakistan Super League between Multan Sultans and Islamabad United, so do please join us for that if you can.
We hope you enjoyed our coverage of an Old Trafford classic. But for now, though – from me, Kevin Hand – it’s goodbye.
Manchester United will face the man who saved Sir Alex’s job
The draw that pits Manchester United against Coventry City also pits the Red Devils against a club legend.
Mark Robins scored a goal to keep United in the FA Cup at Nottingham Forest in 1990.
The club would lift the cup that season to give Sir Alex Ferguson his first trophy as United boss.
It has always been thought that the club would have looked elsewhere at the end of that season had United not won the cup.
Where does that game rank in FA Cup history?
That game was one of the truly great FA Cup encounters, and with so much at stake.
Manchester United’s last shot at silverware for the season hung in the balance as Liverpool recovered from a slow start to dominate.
Then came the revival and the eventual comeback from the home side.
Alejandro Garnacho was a star again, but United had heroes all across the park and the FA Cup had another game for the ages.
A fine way to round up the quarterfinal matches.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rues missed chances
“They had the better start but we adapted really well to what they did and what we wanted to do,” Klopp told ITV.
“We had so many chances at 2-1 to kill the game. But the rest is history, and we lost the game.
“I cannot ask for more. We have had an intense season and today was hard.
“United have quality and took a lot of risk. I respect that.
“There was a time when they played one-on-one at the back and as the game went on our decision-making wasn’t good.”
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag gives his reaction
“The first 30 or 35 minutes were the best of our season,” ten Hag told ITV. “We played as a team, but then there were gaps in the lines and you can’t allow this against one of the best teams in Europe.
“Then we had to change and take a risk and they have a strong belief and really wanted to win this game.
“I said for many weeks that we have a very good team for the future like Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho but like the rest, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford, I can mention so many that give us potential.
“We are in a run from January, despite all the injuries and problems. With the setbacks we have, we can do better.”
