According to sources, there will now be two Vande Bharat trains operating on six routes: Delhi-Katra, Mumbai-Ahmedabad, Delhi-Varanasi, Mysuru-Chennai, Kasaragod-Thiruvananthapuram, and the recently launched Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad route. These trains go through several states on electrified wide gauge networks.
Six further Vande Bharat trains were launched by Prime Minister Modi in December 2023, improving connections on lines including Katra to New Delhi, Amritsar to Delhi, Coimbatore to Bangalore, Mangalore to Madgaon, Jalna to Mumbai, and Ayodhya to Delhi.
The latest 10 Vande Bharat Express trains that have been flagged off will cover following routes:
· Lucknow-Dehradun
· Ahmedabad-Mumbai Central
· New Jalpaiguri-Patna
· Patna-Lucknow
· Khajuraho-Delhi (Nizamuddin)
· Puri-Visakhapatnam
· Kalaburagi–Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal Bengaluru
· Ranchi-Varanasi
· Mysuru-Dr. MGR Central (Chennai)
· Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam
Furthermore, Gorakhpur-Lucknow to Prayagraj, Thiruvananthapuram-Kasargod to Mangaluru, Ahmedabad-Jamnagar to Dwarka, and Ajmer-Delhi Sarai Rohilla to Chandigarh are the four Vande Bharat trains that are currently in operation. These trains were extended by Prime Minister Modi.
The Vande Bharat Express was first introduced by Indian Railways in 2019 as a prototype for quicker travel. Faster acceleration and deceleration, ambient lighting, aircraft-style restrooms, individualized reading lights, automatic connecting doors, fully sealed gangways, contemporary luggage racks, European-style seats, and more upgrades have been added to the train throughout time.
According to additional reports, BEML is producing a prototype of the sleeper Vande Bharat Express that the Indian Railways is now developing for nighttime service. The vehicle body of the sleeper variant was recently unveiled by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
